Who I am
This website is run by Khushal Yousafzai, a speaker and mentor based in Birmingham, UK. I’m responsible for any personal information you share through this site. If you have a question about this policy or your information, email me at bookings@khushalyousafzai.com.

What I collect
I only collect what I need to reply to you and run my speaking work:

  • When you get in touch: your name, email address, organisation, and anything you include in your message.

  • When you book me: the details needed to arrange and invoice the session, such as your contact name, school or organisation, event details and billing information.

  • When you visit the site: basic usage information like pages visited, device and browser type, and approximate location. This is collected through cookies and my website platform’s analytics.

How I use it

  • To reply to enquiries and arrange bookings. This is in my legitimate interest, or it’s needed to agree a booking with you.

  • To invoice and keep financial records, because the law requires it.

  • To understand how the site is used so I can improve it. This uses analytics cookies, which I only set with your consent.

  • To send occasional updates if you’ve signed up. This is based on your consent, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

I don’t sell your information, and I don’t use it for anything you wouldn’t reasonably expect.

Who I share it with

  • My agent, Caitlin, who manages my bookings. Speaking enquiries may be passed to her so she can respond.

  • Squarespace, which hosts this website and processes form submissions and analytics on my behalf.

  • My email provider, which stores our correspondence.

  • YouTube and Instagram, if you play content embedded on this site. They may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.

Some of these services store data outside the UK. When that happens, the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.

How long I keep it
I keep enquiries for up to two years after we last spoke, then delete them. Booking and invoicing records are kept for six years, as UK tax rules require. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe.

Cookies
Essential cookies keep the site working. Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time through the banner or your browser settings.

Young people
Much of my work is with students, but this website is meant for teachers, schools, parents and organisations. If you’re under 13, please ask a parent, guardian or teacher to get in touch for you.

Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you can ask to:

  • see the information I hold about you

  • correct it

  • delete it

  • restrict or object to how I use it

  • take it to another provider

  • withdraw your consent at any time

To do any of this, email bookings@khushalyousafzai.com. I’ll reply within one month.

Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, please contact me first so I can put it right. I’ll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) at any time.

Newsletter (delete if not used): If you join my mailing list, I’ll use your email address only to send updates about my work. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

Changes
I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
